Probler P2 Trouble Shooting

This article features a selection of common problems applicators have experienced with the Probler P2 spray gun along with the cause and solution.

SYMPTOM CAUSE SOLUTION
Gun does not actuate when triggered Air switch assembly is closed Open
  Plugged exhaust Clean air ports in handle
  Damaged trigger spool o-rings Replace
SYMPTOM CAUSE SOLUTION
There is no fluid spraying when the gun is fully actuated Closed fluid valves Open
  Plugged impingement ports Clean
  Plugged check valves Clean
SYMPTOM CAUSE SOLUTION
Gun actuates slowly Plugged exhaust Clean air ports in handle
  Damaged piston o-rings Replace
  Dirty air valve, or damaged o-rings Clean air valve or replace o-rings
SYMPTOM CAUSE SOLUTION
There is a leakage between flat tip and mixing chamber Tip is not seated properly Reassemble
  Damaged or missing seal Replace
SYMPTOM CAUSE SOLUTION
There is a pressure imbalance Plugged impingement ports Clean
  Plugged check valves Clean
  Viscosities are not equal Adjust temperature to compensate
SYMPTOM CAUSE SOLUTION
There is A and/or B side fluid in the gun air section Damaged side seals Replace
  Damaged mixing chamber Replace
  Damaged side seal o-rings Replace
SYMPTOM CAUSE SOLUTION
Fluid mist from mix chamber or air cap Damaged side seals Replace
  Damaged mix chamber Replace
  Damaged side seal o-rings Replace
SYMPTOM CAUSE SOLUTION
The fluid does not shut off when fluid valves are closed Damaged fluid valves Tighten packing or replace
SYMPTOM CAUSE SOLUTION
Burst of air from muffler when gun is triggered Normal No action required
SYMPTOM CAUSE SOLUTION
Steady air leakage from muffler Damaged air valve o-rings Replace
  Damaged piston o-rings Replace
